Dividing sections of your site has both advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages are (1) as your site grows and server loads increase, sections of your site which use a sub domain, can more be easily migrated to another server. (2) It is easier to promote and build backlinks to sub domained sections since many directories and site owners are willing to accept sub domain links as opposed to those that are not. For example gallery.mysite.com is accepted by most directories where mysite.com/gallery/ is not.

Yes it is, but it is better to go for a proper site than a subdomain one since most directories do not approve of subdomain link. | ||
