Default End of small forums near end?

Huge social networking communities like MySpace and FaceBook is becoming more popular. Several big brand companies like Nike are also building their own communities and more are expected to follow suit. There's been talk that small forums can't possibly compete with these companies. Do you think it's the end of such forums?

No, communities like Myspace and Facebook don't have strong software bases for forums.

There may be bigger communities, but that doesn't mean it's better and more popular then smaller, more dedicated communities.

Wow, that would be sad, wouldn't it? To end small forums? I guess the saying goes the bigger something is, the better. What they don't realized is that some great things can be found on smaller ones.

handshake I don't think so

I don't think so,internet is too big and everyone can survive. The survival of small forums depend on what unique thing they are offering.

Small forums create a much closer knit community feel. Big forums are great for marketing and traffic. I think it's important to be part of both.
