Default Spam Posts

I remember a while back where some one advertised a promotional method of building links by posting in forums and offering it as a service.

Looked at the post and links and seen crap after crap, I can not help but now wonder if these tossers have found this site to be an easy dumping ground as well for their spam posts.

One has now 30+ spam posts alone and still not banned or cleaned up.

This reflects badly on the site ( and mine as i take your latest post as feed to promote this site for you, that now just feeds crap )

please clean the crap up and send a strong message to these idiots that this forum is not a dumping ground or the only outcome will be a crap and usless site, that i will also dump as it is disapointing as it stands.

I hear you loud and clear. We have been hit hard by spammers and spambots. There for awhile it seemed almost impossible to keep ahead of them. After trying several different anti-spam plugins and changes to our new member registration system, I think we may finally have it under control. Most if not all of the spam and spam accounts have now been deleted and we are now conducting a thread by thread search looking for any we have missed. Yesterday I posted the following announcement to all of our members outlining some of the site changes and steps which were taken to address the spamming issue:

Site Changes and Spam

TalkDirectories is not the only website which has been under increased spam attacks recently. One of our other sites has been receiving almost twice as much spam daily and another was actually taken off-line when a large number of dormant spam accounts started posting to the site at the same time, causing the server to shut down. From discussions with other community forum owners, it seems there has been a significant increase in spam posting in the last two months and we are not the only ones being hit by it.

As of yesterday, the new changes put in place appear to be working and almost all of the spam has been flushed from the site. If you do notice any posts or member accounts that appear to be spam, please take a minute to report it so we can get it off of the site. When a post is reported all of our admin and moderators receive an immediate email and pm so it can be taken care of immediately.

All new member accounts are now being reviewed and monitored, as well as, all new threads and posts are also being more frequently checked by members of our team both online and through rss feeds. Thanks Downunder for giving us the idea to use rss feeds as an additional method to monitor the site. We started using it yesterday and so far, from all accounts, it seems to be working very well.

We sincerely apologize to all of our members for any inconvenience this may have caused you and would like to express our appreciation your continued support as we work through this mess.

Sincerely,

Scott Halliday

I just want to add that if you see any more remaining spam posts please use the Report post button to report it and someone will take care of it ASAP.

Thanks!
