| After the numerous issues DMOZ has had over the last year or so, not just with it's functionality, but also with it's editors, Do you think the directory will ever recover? Is it worth trying?

| True, but my guess is one of these days some big name company will buy the site and resurrect it. It's sad, wasted opportunity IMHO.

| I'm still submitting to DMOZ. It's still is THE directory. As long as it's up and about, there's still hope. Honestly though, I wasn't aware they're having problems. I thought the length of time to get listed was normal. ![]() | |||

![]() As for a wasted opportunity, it depends on your purpose. I suppose someone else could buy it and turn it into a link farm for their own purposes, just like AOL did. Still it is the best directory on the web. But that is like running a beauty contest in the gorilla exhibit of your local zoo. ![]() | ||||

| It seems Google still sees some benefit from DMOZ. They (Google) recently did and RDF dump and update their directory for the first time in almost two years.

| Google benefits by cozying up to AOL. Both companies have a natural enemy with Microsoft, and to some extent Yahoo! DMOZ is part of the "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" | |||

| To me and to many other webmasters, DMOZ is a stagnant directory full of corruption. I can't see it recovering unless it is completely overhauled and someone investigates the issues at hand.

| As I said earlier it is fundamentally corrupt when AOL/CNN exploit the directory to gain high PageRank and positioning in Google. Both Google and AOL are corrupting forces. | |||
