Why Am I Delinked In Google??? - Talk Directories

I would greatly value tips that would get me listed in other major SE directories via free submissions.And some suggestions to stop getting de-linked to directories that I was once linked to.In the month of august while checking for directories that I was linked to in Google we had 46 as results.Where as today it shows 40.It means I am de-linked from 6 of them.Why does this happen and how do I stop them.Am waiting for your replies eagerly.Any input is highly appreciated.

In my experience it is when the site is not updated frequently enough or to a great enough extent. Also can be if you remove a reciprocal link. It's really always a battle to keep up links, PR and serps. Don't think you can ever relax.
