Even though the accuracy of alexa rank can be debated all day, when it comes down to it, does it really matter for submissions or advertising? For instance on Talk Directories: Our Alexa rank 2 weeks ago was 1,700,000+. Now, it's 230,276 with a daily Alexa rank of around 20,000-60,000. Every day, we get new signups and more traffic which inevitably means good things to come in terms of growth and advertising revenue. Does this hold true for your sites/directories?

Well, I do think sometime Alexa gives you a "very rough" idea of traffic but it never became a factor for me. I hardly even look at it. That's simple because its far from being accurate. | ||

I rarely pay attention to Alexa. If I am buying an ad spot on a site, then I would rather ask the owner about his traffic than to take Alexa data as gospel.

mostly site owner or SEO would have alexa and google toolbar, if you are submiting site where webmaster visit everyday your alexa rank and google pr would get better every time. I don't believe alexa ranking is reliable, I often use it. It really doesnt matter to me.

Alexa right now is the only tool to give a rough metric for traffic. I know it is not accurate, But can bring lots of link sales. | ||

Alexa rank is indeed important.It shows you the amount of traffic you get ,your site's listings and your traffic rank in major countries.Any website that has a good traffic rank in alexa is bound to catch an eye of Google and we all know what follows next.You tube had a similar history prior to getting procured by the master.
