Many SEO?s may tell you that meta tags are a forgotten importance among search engine optimization these days. However, with directories, it?s a must when setting up category structure and detail pages.

Meta Tags allow each category to have a separate and unique set of keywords.

Not just meta tags, but content in plain text is vital too. The meta tags help, but the on page content prevents your pages becoming dup. content, and will help with SE traffic

I think in any web site the most important factor of DUP content is the page title. Although meta data doesn't play as much of a roll as it use too. You can set yourself above the rest by using them. Everything helps.
