Default UK Sites Account for 50% of Paid Listings

At my directories I found that more that around 50% of paid submissions are from UK Sites and companies.

UK traffic only counts for 8% of total traffic so I get a very high ratio of traffic/submissions.

I talked with other owners and they describe similar submission profiles.

I would like to know if other directory owners also have this submission profile.

Also anyone knows why the UK sites are more willing to pay for a listing?

UK Pounds are UP! 1 pound equals $2+ dollar, that's my guess.

I would like to find out if sales are coming mostly from UK, i'm conducting a research on this and if any of you are from United Kindom, please see my sigs and will let you know later if they are mostly coming from UK lmao! (i'm kidding)

....Forgot, 2rd of my sites in my sigs are free.

Well that is another variable, but I asked other US directory owners and they also have this submitter profile, this is way I am asking for more input.

I have not look into the geo-static on where they are coming from, but I will do that when the time comes as this could help generate sales by knowing what they look for and what they like about and who they are and where they are coming from.

Google analystic could help knowing where they are coming from.

Yea, i'll tune in to this thread as it pretty interesting to see what some members inputs.

That's an interesting statistic.

I wonder what the percentage or website owners / online companies is world wide.

After going over my stats, I have also noticed this to be true as well (Well, more webmasters from other countries other than the US). The thing I can see that could affect this is submission services and seo companies submitting sites. Also, the US isn't nearly as active in the webmaster world as other countries currently.

Great question. I have noticed the same thing.

I also believe that the quality of the UK Websites I review is better on average then those from other regions. I'm in the U.S. so I'm not saying this because I'm biased. Could be my imagination, but they seem to be a cut above on average.

Perhaps the reason they appear to be more willing to invest in directory listings is they're more aware of the value in having higher SE rankings? Or maybe they just have more bloody money then we do mates.

Any one else?

I'm in the UK and I've spent about $600 on directory submission over the past few weeks

I think the exchange rate has a lot to do with it - it was $1=£0.50 a few days ago. Because my e-commerce sites earn in £'s, I can afford to spend a lot more on directories in $'s.

Even UK sites that earn through adsense have a higher earning potential because of the exchange rate.

Another factor is that I don't really come across any UK directories, mainly because most webmaster sites/forums are US based.

I guess theres a gap in the market for UK directories, especially business/shopping directories.

I think it has something to do with the exchange rate, because UK sites owners and companies will find it very cheap to buy links from a site with dollar then a site with pound. It makes sense to buy 2 links from a site with dollar with just one pound than to buy a link from a site with pound.
That is what I kind.

Interesting stats, but you need to collect more demographic information about your users before you can come to the conclusion that the Uk buys more links. It could simply be that you have a large amount of users from the US without a webmaster background, and a large amount of users from the Uk WITH a webmaster background.
