Default Does XHTML Validation and CSS Validation has importance for directory?

Now days, all directory owners are very much care about the validation of XTML and CSS. Does XHTML Validation and CSS Validation has any importance for directory? Hope, all of you will post here the facts in details.

We know XHTML and CSS validity does have a positive impact across websites. I see no reason why a directory can't benefit from it. Even if we aren't sure, validity still won't hurt any site.

Actually ...

Search engines could care less as long as your site renders properly and the links work correctly.

People in the industry tend to attach to much importance to the mechanics. You have to remember the vast majority of web sites are run by people who are really computer illiterate.

There is no search engine benefit to using one language over another or choosing a particular standard.

Compliance not only means your directory will be viewed in the manner you designed it for most browsers/humans. It also means search engines will have no problem crawling it. Search engines tend not to be able to crawl pages with errors.

A search engine spider can be thought of as non-human user with a text/code only browser.
