How would you determine the value of a web directory if you were to buy or sell? What would you base a sales price or offer on if you were to consider selling/buying a general topic web directory? monthly gross revenue X 12/15/18 months? monthly net revenue? do you consider the domain name as well? PR?

How I do it: 12-15 months of monthly revenue. (That is a what most buyers are willing to pay) Age/PR/Alexa/ all factors. Indexed pages (% supplemental) and backlinks are major factors as well. With those standards, a price can be determined.

I think it's all about the potential of the site rather than what's doing currently though that's absolutely a good reference. I would think of; Main keyword ranking in G Domain PR, Inner page PR The last 6 months of monthly revenue. (I don't count older data) Alexa, unique hits Quality backlinks; Unique domain backlinks rather than the quantity High PR backlinks PR/outbound link ratio Relevancy of backlinks Domain name (if a good keyword is in it)
