Hi, I've been watching people everyday asking What are web directories? What is their use? So I thought to write something for them and give them more info about web directories. A short para is written below Quote:

There are many versions of automated directory submission software out there. Using directory submission software can make the submission process faster, but there are some disadvantages in doing this. For example, some web directories can track if submission software was used when someone submits to their directory and they will not accept the submission because they have in their terms not to use automated software like that. Also, doing submissions that quickly will not appear as natural to search engines when they see hundreds of new links at once. If you feel like you really want to speed up the process then we recommend paying a directory submission service to help you. A web directory or link directory is a directory on the World Wide Web. It specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links. A web directory is not a search engine and does not display lists of web pages based on keywords; instead, it lists web sites by category and subcategory. The categorization is usually based on the whole web site rather than one page or a set of keywords, and sites are often limited to inclusion in only a few categories.
