Default Here's an idea...

To show support on my Free Web Directory to the People who paid for Featured listing, I came up with this idea.

What I did was simple really, I renamed the Top List as a Featured List and I had increase the hit counts to 99 hits for those that purchase a feature spots, this will make their listing to be on the "Top Listing" to what it is now as "Featured List" I am displaying the amount as to whatever it is necessary, in this case the number of sites that will be displayed is 23 and I can increase this within the Admin panel.

So basically when you purchase a Featured spot on my free web directory, you'll get an extra listing on a page the is highly crawled by the SE's and as many of you know that the Top Listing page gets a good PR.

Currently I am only doing this on a Free Directory, as I believe that as in a Paid Directory, every sites that paid deserves a chance to be listed on the Top List, though this could be different, you don't have to have a Top List page, you could replace that just how I did and promote it that way. This method could increase your submission as well.

What do you think?

well.. I am divided on this
better there is a mod to display latest featured links. you can use that instead.
so no one mistakes and undermines your site/method.

Basically the Top List becomes a Featured List instead, but works much like the Top hits and it is still a Top hits page except it is only for Featured listings, so basically the Featured sites are look after. They are in the random index page where 3 featured sites are displayed. They are now in Featured List.

Now you have to remember this is being applied on a free directory, the free listing wont be getting this benefit, this I figure will incourage people to submit a featured site in a free directory since free directory typically gets more traffic and more exposure than that of a paid one.

Not sure if any one will implement this on a paid. I think I will leave it up to the free directory.
