I have used and still use article marketing. I do get some traffic off of it. I have had some articles that have hit it fairly big making postings on goduddy connections and in many other high profile ways.
I can't say that it is my most effective method, but it is effective.
Key is to use good articles that appeal to people which are well written. Then it can be viral.
