Heres how I voted (also commented your blog) - Age -
Generally age is not important, however a long established directory is not likely to be gone next week. PageRank -
This is a good measure of link-passing-power, but updates too infrequently and we can rarely see the true value due to penalties. PageStrangth -
A general all round measure of the things you mentioned. Useful for comparisons. Design -
This is a big one for me. All my directories have unique designs. It shows you're willing to spend anything from $50 - $1500 to make your directory stand out from the croud. I'm always willing to submit to directories like this. Content -

Paid directories generally review submissions sooner, have better editorial standards, are less likely to vanish and also pass greater link-juice. There are of course some great free directories around. However I generally spend my time on the paid directories, they give better results. Directory Owner -
Just because they don't hang around on forums doesnt mean there is anything wrong with them. Good well written communication and ethical practices I do look out for though.
How was that? :p
