I am interested to here how many of you have tried article marketing (writing an informative article and submitting to article directories, with your directory's backlink included) as a means of gaining traffic and backlinks to your directory.

Did you do it entirely for SEO?
Did you do it for marketing in general - branding, traffic etc?
Have you bothered at all?
